We are more likely to load the shopping cart with impulsive choices when we are hungry and also more likely to grab that quick sweet at the checkout.

It is much easier to avoid eating problem foods when you don’t have the temptation or keep them in the house
3. Listen to your body
Get to know your hunger and fullness signals. Often we get out of touch with what our body is telling us. Are you really hungry or are you just bored or tired? Do you really need a large serving if you feel full halfway through the meal? Learn to get back in touch with your physical signals such as grumbling, weariness, inability to concentrate or feelings of fullness when you’ve overeaten.
4. Remember to eat regularly
When you skip meals you are more likely to get hungry and overeat at your next meal. It also slows down your metabolism which slows down weight loss.
5. Keep well hydrated
When we are dehydrated we often mistake our need to quench thirst with hunger. Keep your fluids up and keep well hydrated.
6. Slow down your eating
Think about and enjoy every mouthful. Make every mouthful count. Savoury the taste, texture and feel of the food. Often we eat while doing something else such as driving, watching television, working and we eat without savouring the mouthfuls.

We often eat when we are stressed or bored or for another emotional reason. Take a step back at this point and ask yourself what you really want. Maybe you need to relax or have a hug to feel better.
